How "No Exam" Actually Works

Instead of a paramedical exam, the insurance company verifies your health three ways:

  1. Your answers. The application asks about your medical history — conditions, medications, hospitalizations, tobacco use.
  2. Prescription check. With your permission, the carrier checks prescription databases to confirm your medication history matches your answers.
  3. Public records. A basic check of motor vehicle and other records (mainly for identity and fraud prevention).

No blood draw. No urine sample. No one comes to your house.

Who Qualifies?

Most applicants ages 50-85 living in Florida. Common conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes (if controlled), and arthritis usually don't block approval — they may just affect the price or place you in a graded benefit.

When an Exam IS Required

Traditional large life insurance policies ($250,000+) sometimes still require exams. Final expense policies — the small $5,000-$35,000 policies on this site — almost never do.

Be honest on the application. The prescription check will find what you don't disclose. A wrong answer can cause a claim denial later — which is the worst possible outcome for your family. When in doubt, disclose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will they check my medical records?

They check prescription history and may request an attending-physician statement if something needs clarification. They don't get your full medical file without a specific reason and your authorization.

I take several medications. Can I still get approved?

Often yes. What matters is whether your conditions are controlled and stable. Tell me what you take and I'll tell you honestly which carriers look most favorable.

Does no-exam mean guaranteed approval?

No. "No exam" and "guaranteed issue" are different. No-exam (simplified issue) still asks health questions and can decline. Guaranteed issue asks no health questions and cannot decline for health — but usually costs more and has a 2-year waiting period.
